CanadaI don’t want to create anymore… At least right now.
Not in the “I need a break” way. In the “when did this become a shift I have to clock into” way.
I used to want to create. Now I feel like I need to. And I can’t tell if that shift happened because of the platform or because of me. Probably both. Probably mostly me.
The irony isn’t lost on me that I made a whole video about not wanting to make videos. But maybe that’s the point. Maybe the last honest thing I can create right now is the admisTrying to remind myself of this lately.
I spend way too much time thinking about how something will perform… instead of whether I actually like it.
Rick Rubin said “the audience comes last.”
Not because the audience doesn’t matter, but because if they become the reason you create, the work slowly starts losing its honesty.
The only thing I really control is whether I like the work.
Everything else is outcome.
Still figuring that out. Still unlearning a lot of bad habits.
Just trying to creEncouragement keeps more art alive than criticism 🎨
I can brush off a dumb comment, but not everyone has the confidence, experience, or support to do the same.
After I shared one I got while trying something new, someone messaged me saying they’ve almost deleted their account a few times because of how people online have treated them.
And yeah, I get it, it’s the internet..
But if you’re given the chance to pick someone up or put them down, pick the first one, yah big dummy.
